Pedorthists are healthcare professionals who specialize in the assessment of the feet and lower limbs, and the design, fitting and adjustment of custom foot orthotics and footwear.
A Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped (C)) has completed specialized training and national certification through the College of Pedorthics of Canada.
Pedorthists work alongside physicians, physiotherapists and other practitioners, like the team at Creekside Health!

Your feet are the foundation for everything you do. When they aren't well supported, pain can show up in your feet, knees, hips or back.
A pedorthist looks at how you stand, walk and move, then finds solutions that reduce pain, improve alignment and help prevent future injury.
Whether you're on the trails, the slopes or on your feet all day at work, pedorthics can help you keep doing the activities you love.
-
Your first visit includes a review of your health history, activity level and symptoms.
Your pedorthist will assess your feet, posture and gait (the way you walk), and look at the footwear you wear most often.
Together, you'll build a plan. This might include custom orthotics, footwear recommendations or modifications.
If orthotics are recommended, you'll return for a fitting and follow-up to make sure they feel right.
Tip: bring the shoes you wear most, plus any orthotics you already have.

Pedorthists help people of all ages with a wide range of foot and lower limb concerns, including plantar fasciitis, flat feet, bunions, Achilles pain, shin splints and arthritis.
Many knee, hip and lower back problems can be linked to how your feet move, and a pedorthist can help address the root cause.
Pedorthists also support people living with diabetes, who need extra care to protect their feet.
