What Nicole can (and can't) do
Because you shouldn't have to call five times to book a walk-in
If you've ever tried to reach a family clinic at 8:02 a.m., you already know the problem. Our phones ring off the hook, our front desk team is doing their best, and somewhere in the middle, a patient who just needs a quick appointment ends up redialing for the fifteenth time.
That's where Nicole comes in.
Nicole is our new virtual phone assistant. She's not a doctor, she's not a nurse, and she's not pretending to be. She's here to handle the bookings — so the humans at Creekside can focus on the humans in front of them.
Things Nicole is great at
Booking a walk-in appointment (same-day or next available)
Booking a new patient meet-and-greet with a family doctor
Booking a follow-up visit with your family doctor
Rescheduling or cancelling any of the above
She works with our TELUS CHR, so the booking lands directly in our schedule — no double-entry, no lost notes, no "we don't have you down for today."
-
Yes — and we're not going to pretend otherwise. We thought about hiring more receptionists, but our front desk team kept telling us the same thing: they want more time with patients, not more time on hold. Nicole takes the routine calls off their plate.
-
No. Our front desk still answers calls too. Nicole is there to make sure no one gets stuck redialing — especially during our busy morning rush.
-
Say "human," "receptionist," or "real person" at any point. During clinic hours, Nicole transfers you straight to our front desk. After hours, when the front desk is closed, she'll take a message instead and our team will get back to you when we reopen — so you're never left shouting into the void.
-
Yes. Nicole works inside the same secure systems our front desk uses (TELUS CHR), and she follows the same privacy rules every clinic in B.C. has to follow under PIPA and PHIPA. She doesn't store your call for any purpose other than booking your appointment.
-
No, and she won't try. If you're calling about a symptom or a clinical concern, she'll book you in or hand you to our team — whichever is appropriate.
-
Hang up and call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room. Nicole is not for emergencies, and neither is our phone line.
-
Not yet — integrative bookings live on the Jane app. The fastest way is online at creeksidehealth.ca → click "Book Integrative Appointment" → which opens our Jane patient portal, where you can book, reschedule, or cancel any integrative visit yourself in a couple of minutes. (Letting Nicole book integrative too is on our roadmap.)
-
The name isn't random. Nicole is Dr. Lewis's mom — someone who spent her whole life taking care of people. When we needed a name for the voice that helps you get seen, hers was the only one that felt right.
